Swedish

Ideal for relaxation and relieving tension, Swedish massages are the basis upon which most other massage modalities are based, and can leave a person feeling rejuvenated. A light to medium pressure is used.

Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue massage is slower and uses more pressure than a Swedish massage. Deep Tissue is popular for people suffering from chronic muscle tension, repetitive stress injuries, or structural abnormalities. These ailments often contain "knots" or sore painful spots as well so very often Trigger Point therapy will also be incorporated into your Deep Tissue massage.

Trigger Point

"Trigger Points" are defined as areas that when pressure is applied, it produces pain in a different part of your body. Trigger Point therapy specifically addresses these problem areas in muscle tissues that are especially sore and painful. Usually incorporated with Deep Tissue massage, Trigger Point therapy can help restore correct muscle function and health.

Myofascial Release

The "Myofascia" is defined as the connective tissues that surround the muscles, bones, nerves, and organs. Myofascial Release is often used to treat Myofascial Pain Syndrome - a chronic condition caused by pain in these connective tissues. Usually used in conjunction with Deep Tissue and Trigger Point massage, Myofascial Release aims to relieve Trigger Points using slightly different methods that cover a broad area of muscle rather than a single point.

Sports and Injury

Athletes and those leading an active lifestyle have particular challenges when it comes to muscle function. Injuries can produce serious setbacks that throw you off your game and prevent you from reaching your goals. Sports and Injury massage specifically addresses those challenges to help get you back on track. Sports massage may also be used for maintenance, and to further enhance the performance, recovery and relaxation of people who lead physically demanding lives.

Prenatal

Prenatal massage is specifically targeted at the special needs of pregnant people in need of stress and pain relief. The list of pain and discomfort  - both physical and mental - during pregnancy is exhaustive. Prenatal massage can help promote the comfort, health, and relaxation of people in various stages of pregnancy while avoiding unnecessary risk. Massage is conducted side-lying. Dawn will conduct a thorough interview before your massage to ensure any special needs are addressed and to ensure massage is appropriate for you.

Foot Reflexology

Foot Reflexology employs applying pressure to a system of pressure points on the feet which correspond to organs and systems of the body. Pressure applied to those points is believed to bring relaxation and healing to those corresponding areas. Foot Reflexology may be combined into any length massage. May not be combined with Hot Stones. If only Foot Reflexology is desired, we recommend choosing the 30 minute session.

Stretching

Muscles or tendons are deliberately flexed or extended in order to improve the muscle's elasticity or achieve improved muscle tone. Stretching may be combined into any modality or length massage, or a session of only stretching may be purchased for the same lengths of time as massages

Grapeseed oil is used for all modalities. If a different lubricant is needed, please contact Dawn ahead of time to discuss.
